Known for his curveball, longtime South Jersey MSBL member and Cherry Hill Chief Mike Forziati (Fonz) was dealt a curveball of his own this year.  His vibrant 10-year-old son Adam was diagnosed with leukemia. 

 

As a parent and friend of Mike, to say this hit home would be an understatement.  His fellow Chiefs and competitors were equally distraught by the nightmare the Forziati family now faces.  My mind immediately went to how can we come together to support Adam, Fonz, and his family in this battle?

 

Among the many things we miss about Mike not being with us on the field, his humor is most noticeably absent.  He led an on-going joke that we were all crayon eaters.  If you’ve ever played the Chiefs, you would probably agree!  Fonz often said that he preferred the blue crayons.

 

This all brings us to the Blue Crayon Comedy Show and Benefit on Saturday, June 29th to directly support Adam and the Forziati family in the battle of their lifetime.

In the spirit of Mike’s one-of-a-kind sense of humor, I have called upon local comedian Bob Marsdale to headline the show.  Bob knows all too well the duress cancer can place on a family and we appreciate him bringing along his very funny friends Bill Chiang and Joey Callahan to perform in support of this cause.

 

This event will include food, beer, raffles, 50/50, laughs, and most of all South Jersey MSBL comradery in support of a great cause.  In my 25 years in this league, I can honestly say no matter the competitiveness there is always an underlying brotherhood.  Now is the time when we all need to come together for a night of fun and real-life IMPACT.
